Recently, we had the absolute privilege of welcoming Steve Hewitt, former CEO of Gymshark and one of the sharpest business minds out there, into the home of Sketch Creative.

If you know Steve, you already know the kind of energy he brings. If you don’t, here’s the short version: he helped take Gymshark from £4M to £500M in just seven years, turning it into a $1.5 billion unicorn brand with a team of over 1,000 people. All from one revenue stream. That still blows my mind.
But here’s the thing. Steve doesn’t just show up and reel off the wins. He talks about the work. The messy middle. The hard conversations. The stuff most leaders don’t say out loud. And that’s exactly what made his time with us so powerful.
This wasn’t just a talk. It was a conversation. An honest one. About growth, the exciting bits, the uncomfortable bits, and the behind-the-scenes reality we don’t always see from the outside.
We dug into what it means to really “fly in formation” as a team. To rally around a shared purpose. To disagree well. To move forward together with intention.
One line that stuck with me: “You don’t have to be a leader to be a leader.”
Still thinking about that one.
It’s easy to picture success as this clean, upward line. But as Steve reminded us, behind every jump forward is a pile of lessons, a few bumps, and a whole lot of clarity on what truly matters. That kind of clarity, our North Star, is what we’re starting to define here at Sketch.
We’ve got big ambitions. A 36-month roadmap already taking shape. But more importantly, we’ve got a team that’s curious, open, and ready to build something incredible together.
